We stand with the Black Lives Matter movement. We hear you. We see you. We stand with you.
As an organization, we strive to promote diversity and solidarity in our community. Diversity is what makes San Diego's canyons so unique and vital, in many ways including in the communities that surround and have access to them. We acknowledge that social justice and environmental justice are inextricably linked. There is a deficit between who has access to these open spaces and who feels safe recreating in and enjoying them. Many factors contribute to this inequity, including systemic racism. San Diego Canyonlands believes in the healing power of nature and will continue to work to make our canyons welcoming and safe places for all San Diegans to enjoy. But there is still a lot of work to be done. And we know that we need to keep listening and learning how to serve all parts of our community. We start this process by acknowledging that Black Lives Matter.
