ECO (Environmental Career Opportunities) empowers individuals from historically underserved communities by offering comprehensive, paid green job training. This program is designed to uplift justice-impacted individuals, those experiencing or at risk of homelessness, and opportunity youth. By fostering meaningful professional development, ECO creates pathways to environmental careers while driving equity and resilience in underserved and underrepresented communities.



 

THe Power of Nature

People experiencing homelessness, justice-impacted individuals, foster youth, and those facing other significant challenges due to racial, gender and other inequities can have complex needs that extend beyond employment. Research shows that immersing ourselves in natural environments has profound benefits for both our physical and mental well-being.

Green workforce

To prevent further biodiversity loss and mitigate for a changing climate, it is necessary to bolster the environmental job sector with trained workers from diverse backgrounds.

With a coordinated network of partners, Canyonlands aims to build an intentional workforce, proficient to meet the compounding natural resource management needs across the country and handle the challenges of tomorrow.

Coordinated Network

Canyonlands ECO program provides individuals with living wage stipend, consistent work hours, on the job training, professional and community interaction opportunities, and daily lunch for field intensive workdays, allowing participants to re-enter the workforce with a regained confidence in themselves and others.

We do this through a coordinated network of agency partners, sponsors, and corporate collaborators.
