Madelyn mitchell
Madelyn was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and came to San Diego in 2020 to study at San Diego State University. With an avid gardener grandmother, and a mother who spent over two decades working as a florist, she grew up with a love for flowers and nature. Madelyn has earned her B.A. in Sustainability and minor in Anthropology, and has a passion for connecting people with their environment.
When not working, she finds joy in reading, spending time with friends, caring for her fish and plants, and yoga.
Madelyn is currently focused on volunteer registration and organizing events. She is always happy to answer questions regarding our registration platform, Golden Volunteer, and getting involved with Canyonlands.
Natalie penney
Natalie was born and raised in San Diego in the College-Rolando area and graduated from San Diego State University in 2022 with a degree in Sustainability. Her love of outdoor recreation led to a passion for protecting our natural resources. Natalie is one of three California Climate Action Corps fellows who will be focusing on habitat restoration and volunteer engagement. In her free time, she loves to hike, collect antiques at estate sales, and explore the local music and food scene.
kayden gleaves
Kayden was born and raised in San Diego in the University City area, and graduated from the University of California, Davis in 2021. Their passion for science and drive to understand the mechanisms of the world around them led them to earn their B.S. in Environmental Science and Management. They hope to pursue further environmental education to one day work in and study California’s limnetic systems and hydrobiology. In their free time, they love to read fantasy books, crochet, build Legos, and spend time outdoors.
Kayden is currently focused on volunteer engagement and social media content creation. They are happy to respond to any inquiries regarding collaboration via social media or questions from volunteers!
